DP World Chennai is ranked 88th among the top container ports across the globe for the volume handled in 2008. Efforts of process re-engineering has enabled DP World Chennai to increase it’s throughput to more than One Million TEUs in 2008 from 350,000 TEUs in 2001. It has also focused on enhanced safety measures in all spheres of its operations has enabled DP World Chennai to become a “Fatal Free Terminal” for three consecutive years in a row. With the induction of 2 new twin lift quay cranes in October 2009, DP World Chennai will enhance service on all fronts to its customers.
DP World Chennai is continuously working to increase productivity on all fronts, simplify procedures, adopt transparent and easily implementable practices and add value to the supply chain that uses its services. Its status as a leading e-terminal and other initiatives coupled with process re-engineering has helped in significantly reducing the dwell time of import containers.
